The Charlotte Optimist Club will be awarding several one-year scholarships. Each scholarship that is available will be for a minimum of $750.00 up to $1000.00.
The Charlotte Optimist Club /John Duris Scholarship, was first awarded in 1984 to benefit students involved in Eaton Intermediate School District Vocational Program (not required). Eligible students may be from Charlotte, Potterville and Maple Valley.
The scholarships will be awarded to student(s) who are pursuing Vocational-Technical courses in an accredited school or college leading to a Technical Associate Degree, Certification or Diploma.
Complete Guidelines and administrative rules are available with the application form which is a simple two-page form, plus, an attached essay of one or two pages. Selection criteria: * Minimum 2.5 G.P.A. * Academic Achievement * School and community involvement * Leadership qualities * Initiative * Submitted essay
Applications are available on the Charlotte Optimist Website under What We Do at optimistclubcharlotte.weebly.com., at each High School Guidance office, and from Mrs. Halsey at Eaton Federal Bank.

The 2018 Scholarship winners were: Clayton Jones of Charlotte High School will go to Aquinas College to become a high school teacher; Zane Stanton of Potterville High School will enter Alma College to become a financial advisor; William Wilson will enroll in Olivet College to major in computer science; and Sydney Spotts of Olivet High School will be attending Grand Valley State University to major in allied health science or physical therapy.
